Looking for True IBO Stories

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

As the editor of ACHIEVE® Magazine, I get to meet lots of IBOs at events like Achievers, New Platinum Conference, Connections, and Diamond Club. I also have the privilege of really getting to know some of Quixtar’s biggest achievers in the course of writing ACHIEVE cover stories.

Flip through Achieve, and you’ll read about these and other IBO leaders: Their successes. Their rise from one pin level to another. Their mentorship. The way they inspire.

There are others who aren’t recognized in Achieve, but have stories to tell. There’s a dimension to every IBO – from Diamonds to the new IBOs – that fall into the “that’s-a-pretty-cool-story” category. It’s the human interest dimension. Like the IBO who’s in the advanced stages of producing a film. The IBO who writes poetry and music. The IBO who marches off to a second tour in Iraq.

What’s your story?

We want to hear these stories: Big and modest successes. Obstacles you’ve faced and overcome. The avocations you enjoy because of the Quixtar business opportunity. We’re looking for the story of the heroine and the common man. The artist and firefighter. The most interesting customer experience you’ve had.

They can be funny, inspiring, uplifting, heart-wrenching. Your stories. In your own words. You can tell your story by emailing trueibostories@quixtar.com. Please keep your submission to about a page or less and feel free to share photos or other images that may illustrate your story. Please include your name and IBO number because, after all, these must be true IBO stories!

Once we receive your story, we may contact you with questions or for more information. Please keep in mind that we likely won’t be able to publish every story, due to the volume of submissions we may receive and the need to publish only those most appropriate for True IBO Stories. What we do publish, we reserve the right to edit for length, accuracy, grammar, etc. – although it will be our mission to edit minimally and share your stories in as much of your own words as possible.

We plan to collect stories for about a month and begin publishing what we receive in the first part of May.

So share your stories with us and other readers of this blog. We can’t wait to hear from you! And be sure to check back in May for all the True IBO Stories!

Nick,

Part of the reason why there is growth issues with Quixtar is that prospects go online and do some googling and what they find is the experiences of those who quit, rather than those who succeeded. True IBO stories is obviously one initiative to address that, however one part of your post worries me a little. You say "Flip through Achieve, and you’ll read about these and other IBO leaders". Prospects can't "flip through their copies of Achieve". Achieve is not publicly available.

Why aren't all the success stories you already have online and publicly available? Follow the lead of Amway South Africa - http://www.amagram.co.za

Thanks for your thoughts, IFB. You're absolutely right -- unless you're an IBO, a prospect, or a nosy neighbor, chances are you're not going to see Achieve, let alone flip through it. Creating an online version is certainly a possibility. It's a suggestion I've heard a lot in the past couple of months. And it's something our team will consider.

In the meantime, sharing our success stories with the rest of the world might be a good interim step. We're looking into ways to enhance the Visitor view of Quixtar.com, and adding those stories can go a long way toward accomplishing this. Stay tuned!

Regards,

Nick

I hope you are getting a good response to your request for people to send in their story. I think we are all going to be surprised by some of the things people have had to overcome to get into the business--and to stay in the business. I hope to achieve great levels of success in the business, but I think we'll find that most people are just struggling to get to 1000 PV and stay there. And if they do and they touch a few people's lives along the way, that is great success.

In December, we participated in Acievers in Orlando.  I can't even tell you how many times we have been invited to this fabulous trip.

In Feb we were in Hawaii and next month we are off to Peter Island.

I'll say it only a few words.  This is way too good not to do!

Thank you for giving us a business that is based on an individual's willingness to do the work and reap the rewards for helping others.

This is one fantastic opportunity. It should not be taken lightly. The options that are available are absolutely awesome.

Thank you Quixtar, Alticor and your entire team of dedicated professionals.

It's great to hear success stories from IBO's. As a fairly new IBO, it's great to see that there's a positive online forum that isn't innundated with frustrated people who have tried and not been successful with this opportunity. What I would love to hear, is something to address/validate some of the facts that I've heard presented at numberous Open Meetings up and down the East Coast. I ask up the tree, but no solid credible sources are ever cited. For example:

-Quixtar is number 2, behind Microsoft, in producing millionaires with an impressive 2200 made to date.

-The Quixtar website was created by Microsoft.

-XS moves 600,000 cans/day and is the largest US manufactured Energy Drink

-Circuit City experienced a surge of $1 million in revenue after the first month they came on board with Quixtar.

-Artistry is the in the top 5 in global sales for cosmetics and #1 in Japan.

Since duplication is a huge part of this business, I think that it's critical that we are duplicating the right stuff. It may be worthwhile to have a Quixtar version of Snopes.com where people can submit some of the claims that have been made and have them refuted or validated as appropriate.

Just an idea. Keep up the good work!

-Seneca

Editor's Response:

Thank you for your comment and for your commitment to honesty and accuracy in promoting this business. With hundreds of thousands of Independent Business Owners building Quixtar businesses across North America, information that is originally disseminated correctly can sometimes become a bit twisted and misleading as it is passed through the proverbial grapevine. We appreciate you checking with Quixtar for the facts behind the claims you've heard.

I apologize for the delay in publishing your comment but we wanted to be sure we had the best possible response to your questions.

Regarding Quixtar being #2 in producing millionaires, this statement is not supported by Quixtar and is simply not verifiable. It should not be repeated and could be construed as an exaggeration of the income potential of the Quixtar business, which is a violation of our Rules of Conduct.

Microsoft was indeed one of many technological partners in the development of the Quixtar site but much of the work was done in-house at Quixtar. Microsoft did not solely create the site, nor do they have any ownership stake in the Quixtar business.

As for XS, we do not claim and would not support any claim that it is the largest U.S.-manufactured energy drink. Quixtar sells an average of 18,320 12-packs per day, which is more like 200,000 cans per day vs. the 600,000 that you have heard.

The Circuit City claim should not be repeated. They may or may not have experienced a surge of $1 million in revenue after the first month they became a Quixtar Partner Store. Quixtar does not claim, however, and would not support any claim that this was the direct result of traffic from quixtar.com. Circuit City Vice President, Imran Jooma, does, however, state that Quixtar is by far their "largest affiliate partner" in his video on www.thisbiznow.com.

In the highly competitive prestige category, only the ARTISTRY® Brand and three other distinguished brands enjoy a leadership position as the world's best selling cosmetics brands, according to a Euromonitor International study. Others are Clinique™, Lancome™ and Estee Lauder™.

Backed by more than 35 years of experience, the ARTISTRY Brand is the only direct-sell brand classified in the prestige category and generates over $1 billion in annual sales globally. Artistry is not, however, the #1 selling cosmetic in Japan.

If you are seeking accurate, current facts about the Quixtar business and third-party information, I encourage you to visit www.quixtarnewsroom.com and http://www.thisbiznow.com

Almost 1 month and no stories.

I'm not sure what to think about that.

Editor's Note:

Ty,

While we can't tell you what to think -- unfortunately :) -- I can tell you that we're moving pretty much at the pace planned as far as publishing IBO stories.

As you'll note in our original post, "We plan to collect stories for about a month and begin publishing what we receive in the first part of May."

We've received numerous stories that we intend to publish. We are in the process of verifying the IBO numbers of those who submitted stories and preparing an agreement for them to sign giving their formal permission for us to post. Once all that's in place, you'll see stories on this blog. Hopefully by the end of next week!

Thanks for your interest -- and your patience.

I am now three months into the business and I have numerous stories, but that will not be my focus here. I started this e-commerce business looking for an opportunity. An opportunity to not only achieve financial success, but also achieve the lifestyle that Ive always wanted. As I spent most of my time around our awesome business team (Greg Francis Group), I realized that this was the opportunity I had been looking for. This would give me the opportunity to achieve financial success, my desired lifesyle, and change lives in helping others find what they have been looking for. I realize I am just beginning my journey to Diamond, but with the results I have seen already, not financial but personality rather, I know I can expect to have great success down the road.

Work hard and good luck.

Josh

I love the blogs!

What about putting the most recent 1st, as in the May 3rd date above, rather than last. That way folks can see what the most recent post is rather than have to scroll down to the bottom.

Also, you may need to include a "right-left" movement bar to assist with the comments section.

Editor's Note Published by Anna Bryce:

Art,

Thanks for your interest in the Opportunity Zone!

The order in which comments are posted is actually standard on most blogs, allowing readers to start with the post and follow the comments all the way down in chronological order.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "right -- left" bar and have checked with folk in IT who suspect perhaps your browser configuration is affecting the way comments are displaying on your screen? If you continue to experience issues please feel free to email help@opportunityzone.com.

Thanks!

My wife and I have been involved with the old Amway and now Quixtar for a few years. Our business has gone up and down and back up during that time and it is all related to how we treated our business and how we let life get in our way. We have found this business is like most others on whether you succeed or fail. It depends on how you treat it and if you are willing to put yourself in a position to learn from others who have succeeded. We are in a LOS that is willing to help us succeed. Without this we would have quit long ago.

I hope your first story (sentence copied below) intentionally used the terms "broke friends" and "some loser on the internet" in order to get a rise from IBO's.

"When I got back, I didn't check with my broke friends or some loser on the web."

Because it got a strong response, and NOT in support of using these derogatory terms. Here are a couple of examples: http://www.webraw.com/quixtar/archives/2007/05/bad_start_for_true_ibo_stories.php#comments and http://www.thetruthaboutquixtar.com/index.php/content/view/3691/90/lang,en/

What are your thoughts on these perceptions, Nick?

Are there more success stories or are there more people who quit and/or had bad experiences in Amway/Quixtar?  Just because (your claim) there aren't supposedly a lot of "formal" complaints doesn't mean that the opportunity doesn't have a poor public image.  Why do you think it's so hard to even get people to see the "plan"?

Joecool - I never claimed there was not people with bad experiences. But if you search the 'net all you will do is find people with bad experiences. Are you claiming there haven't been people with good experiences?

Joecool said:

No, what I am claiming is that there are for more people with bad experiences than good ones.  And the few successes most likely came from the losses experienced by people who had bad experiences.

Hello Achieve Editor :),

Well I found this site the other day much to my surprise. It was actually hard to find among Quixtar/Amway info on the web. I know years ago I mentioned making the Achieve Public but I heard no response or we are looking into it. Like many I know our great business has a ton of people in it and some very successful and many that are very happy with everything they have a hold of. (With all the good thing our business is doing in North America why not have the Achieve public?) This business is too Great to be Mislead or Slandered into thinking it is not or a Scam because of some guy who decides to write negative on the internet about us. Well I say instead of getting Punched in the face when and excited prospect goes home just to read negative crap online lets fight back. Gosh we are profitable enough. We have the internet resources, we have the disclosure. Yes there are so many solutions to this small problem but instead of letting (Predators Steal) our time away from excited prospects isn’t it time to FIGHT BACK! Gosh we do not even have to fight at all. We could just open the door to ACHIEVE publicly so when Mr. or Mrs. Prospect goes home they can Yes read the negative but now at least they have a another door to turn to and read online. Yes the (Achieve is critical) to print, but it is almost defenseless to the internet since it is not online today. (Everyone needs an online presence) since most people still think if it is not online then well they must be hiding something. This will drowned out the negative WebPages because people can then put there feeling and experience into the pie rather than just getting Blasted by all the untrue negative about things that might have been taking place in the 70’s or 80’s. This is an Awesome Business and I am happy with the $1333.33 check we got this month. Yes I work a real job and do this on the side and love the people. But that story is Never heard of! Yes the www.thisbiznow.com site is good but it is just a start. We need another one which is listed high about negative in searches and people get the ability to see volumes of real people. We can virtually DRAIN out negative with positive. Some how the predators have volumes of the same negative which appears like a bunch but it is the same people just masking it to make it look like many think the same way. It should be illegal since it is slander. ( In most cases however we need 4 times more positive to drain out 1 negative.) But our story is what allows my neighbor to want to check this out and it is more common. Platinum is way doable no matter what anyone say and I believe this is a good thing for those who work it.

Nick,

I am responding to your conversation with Felix Pelaez, MD FACS in which he gives a passionate discourse on the huge error of renaming the Quixtar business in the USA to the Amway name...again.  Candidly, I agree with him, but my English won't be as good.  Do you want another reason why the change should not be made?

42 years.

Yes, I've been involved with this business two years longer than I've been married to the same woman (and when HER name became Shirley MacLean, I also know a little bit about the effect a name can have!)

We are 4-time retreads, and a major reason why is because of the name Amway.  The first time we were in, the name Amway was not known.  It had no negative connotation to it.  We went through the time when Amway went through the government spotlight.

Thank God a fella named Dexter Yager stood up and asked to be counted.  Operationally, we are now two removed from Dexter and Birdie.  He doesn't know us even though we are that close.  Our immediate upline Platinum, Emerald, and Diamond IBO's are the Bryan family.

We are Founders 100's who are not giving up on ourselves.  (If you knew where we were when we started...) We are improving daily.  Candidly, both of us would attribute the lives our children lead are directly based on the knowldege we have taught them; knowledge learned from this business.

I told you all that to tell you this: no business...NO BUSINESS...will deliberately take on the perceived...PERCEIVED...negatives that this name change will generate.  I know from the above described experiences that this tentative name change is a horribly bad move.  This company and the IBO's who deal with it know just how good it really is.  Why a company would want to strap itself with the negative attached to the Amway name in the US...makes me wonder if the company is as intelligent as it should be.

OK...I'm off my soapbox now.
