Xcited about XS

Thursday, June 28, 2007

This story comes from Joe and Christie Ison of Arkansas. They've found success by integrating retailing as a critical element in their independent Quixtar business.

(Anyone else with retailing stories? We'd love to hear from you. Send your email to trueibostories.com)

Retailing has put some energy and excitement into our group of IBOs.

We've been a part of Quixtar for about four years, and have created a respectable side income from group volume and the small amount of retail we have all done (usually right at the 50 PV minimum per IBO).

However, last month we determined that our group would be a leader in retailing, focusing on the new Blast XSTM concentrated syrups and on Artistry®. We did some B-to-B sales training for approaching restaurants and created some incentives for our group to be more aggressive with Artistry.

In one month, we have not only raised our volume with new sales, but we've grown in other areas (sponsoring, etc.), too, because people are even more excited about their businesses.

Retailing adds legitimacy, we've found. Quixtar has been the leader in making sure we are all FTC compliant, but we've discovered that going beyond the minimums creates even more growth. Keep up the good work on retail training (like the new Ribbon online training) for IBOs!

And can I just tell you how much FUN it has been to sell the concentrated syrups? The restaurants love it and we love promoting it!

I remember in the past that XS could not be displayed in stores or at bars.  Did teh rules change to allow display of the XS label?

Awesome to hear.

Speaking of XS and the syrup, could someone up in Ada put some pressure on the XS team to get some more promo materials out specifically for the syrup? I've kinda been getting the run-around when asking them when they'll be out. I have XS Syrup clients who could really use some promo materials (like banners, etc) to sell the product in their restaurants.

Thanks!

Avin: Thanks for your comments. I've passed them along to our XS Marketing team.

Regards,

Nick

Joecool: go to xsgear.com and check out OTC MarketingTips under the OTC Marketing tab to get details to your question.

JC,

Your comments are still true today, also with any other product.  However, XS has an entire OTC marketing segment as well.

The concentrated syrups are non labeled and allow a bar, restaurant, cafe, nutrition bar to build their own line of Energy Drink cocktails, smoothies, etc.  It is a great idea that is generating some decent customer volume.

Great job Joe and Christie!  Thanks for setting the example!

Would you pass on some selling suggestions on your "how to"?

I'm sure others would be very interested, I know I would!

Sincerely,

Ros

Ros,

If you're still out there...sorry, I just read this!

One big thing I had to realize is to treat this like a real business. That means setting aside  real times to work on it (I am able to work from home during the day, but others are able to do so at night with few problems -- I can make business visits for them if need be).

I read some sales books, even watched the sales pieces from Rich Devos "Conversations" on YouTube. Interesting that they originally were not allowed to sponsor with Nutrilite until they had 10 customers!

We are implementing a "customer call-in" night, much like we've done in the past for calling potential IBOs for interviews. But this is strictly for selling product. We also have an emphasis on getting people on Ditto, and the new $75 free shipping promotion has helped with monthly volume on that. Print off several PRINT copies (I know, gasp) of the Ditto form that your team can fill out for customers.

All that said, we're not a big shot by any means, not even platinum yet. But that is mostly due to some distractions this past year, including a new baby! This year retail will take us where we want to be.

Thanks for the interest!

Christie Ison (and Joe, in bed since it's almost 2 a.m.!)
