Our first day of Achievers--by Paul and Charla Nadeau

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Paul and Charla Nadeau are first-time Achievers, and have agreed to blog about their experiences. The Nadeaus, from Island Pond, Vermont, are attending Session 2. (There are four sessions in all.) They've checked into their room at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida. Here's their first blog post.

Paul: Everyone was telling us how great this was. Our Q12 bonus would have been enough. But this is great.

This place is amazing. The town we live in has a population of 1,300. There's no traffic light. There's no McDonalds. We've never seen anything like this!

We got married nine years ago, there were two people at our wedding. We drove to Maine for the weekend. This is our honeymoon.

Charla: It's nice not to have the children for a couple of days. (They have two daughters: Abigal, 7, and Sarah, 4.) I left Abigail notes every day for her lunchbox.

I'm in nursing school, and I'm missing a test. I actually brought my textbook so I can study. But I think I'm going to send my classmates a picture of me studying by the pool.

I really need the break. For a few days at least, I won't have to cook. I won't have to go to class.  I won't have to take care of the kids.

When we got to our room, Paul opened the closet and said, "Charla, there are robes in here." No way!

I'm really big on the small things. When we got to the airport, there was this guy holding an "Achievers" sign, and they put us on a bus and drove us right here. That kind of treatment is overwhelming. It's  touching. No matter what we went through to get here, it doesn't seem right.

Paul: We're going to the Welcome Dinner now. We'll write again tomorrow!
